Passport To Peace

Kids in Medellin-Colombia need you!!!

The mission of  the Passport to Peace Foundation is to provide funds, resources, and support, at the local, national and international levels, for the implementation of intervention and assistance programs for children and families of high social risk in primary schools, in order to promote positive forms of behavior that results in a better quality of life for children, families and their communities.

The Passport to Peace Foundation is proud to announce that in 2024 we will partner with Fundacion Sirenaica to support the mental health of children and families in the most vulnerable areas of Medellin, Colombia. Fundacion Sirenaica works with hundreds of children from at-risk areas in Medellin that have limited access to educational and cultural opportunities. Fundacion Sirenaica discovers those talents hidden in neighborhoods where crime, drugs and sex work thrive. Music is used as an intervention to boost positive relationships and resiliency, and combat the daily trauma and struggle these children and families face.  Singing classes are taught in their communities and in the schools they attend.

Fundacion Sirenaica’s primary objective is to educate children and young people with a talent for singing while contributing to the social transformation and formation of values in many unprotected communities of the Metropolitan Area of Medellín.  Through this partnership, the Passport to Peace Foundation will be able to provide the much needed mental health and social emotional education and support for these children and families who have already committed to improving their children’s lives through music. The majority of these children and families are facing many risk factors, including a familial history of childhood abuse and victimization, domestic violence, family substance abuse, mental illness, disabilities, poverty, social isolation and neighborhood violence. The pandemic as everywhere else in the world increased these social, emotional, and mental health problems. Through the partnership between the Passport to Peace Foundation, and the Fundacion Sirenaica, an enormous void can be filled as Colombia’s schools do not provide mental health services.

Project Goal

The objective of Passport to Peace is to create a more compassionate, tolerant, and respectful environment for children and their families by providing a holistic approach where all areas of a child’s life are supported. The goal of this partnership, with Fundacion Sirenaica,  is to build upon, and enrich, well established music programs with mental health services, as well as social emotional education, for children and their families at their school.

Services that will be provided include:

-Emotional support to children
-Therapy groups
-Parenting classes
-Family therapy
-Passport to Peace Program in the schools children attend.

All money donated will go to mental health services, educational supplies/materials, transportation, and the curriculum components of the Passport to Peace Program’s social/emotional learning curriculum for schools.
